Emergency Response Team (ERT)
The Vancouver Police Department's 32-member Emergency Response Team (ERT) responds to approximately 300 calls for service each year, ranging from persons with knives and guns to barricaded suspects and hostage rescues. The ERT team includes Negotiators and the Dog Squad.
ERT also performs a vital supportive role with the many of the investigative squads within the Department for deployment on 24 hour basis, and is involved in coaching, mentoring and training much of the Department's patrol section on active shooter and Code 5 vehicle stops.
With the ever-increasing changes in the world and the incidents which occur, the Vancouver Police Department's Emergency Response Team is poised and ready to meet each and every challenge.
The Emergency Response Team is accountable to the Deputy Chief Constable, Operations Division.
