Fingerprinting Service

Fingerprint Services is located at 3585 Graveley St. and service is available Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (closed statutory holidays).

If you require fingerprinting only and no local Police Records Check, the VPD can provide you with fingerprint service (you do not need to be a resident of Vancouver).

How to Apply for Fingerprinting Service

Step 1: Complete the Request and Consent for Records Check and Disclosure Form

The VPD form Request for Fingerprint Service (PDF) must be completed before the Fingerprinting Service request can be processed. The form can also be picked up at the VPD's 3585 Graveley St. location.

Step 2: Documentation Describing the Print Service Required

You must include documentation describing the print service that you require when applying for Fingerprinting Service. We will accept documents that you have printed off the Internet. Please read your documents carefully prior to attending our office so that you will know what you require from us.

Step 3: Attend in Person wih Your Documents & Acceptable Identification

You must submit your request for Fingerprinting Service to the VPD in person with your documentation and ID.

You will need two pieces of identification, one of which must have a current photo:

  • valid driver's licence with photo
  • valid B.C. Identification card with photo
  • current college / university / secondary school student ID (with photo)
  • passport with current photo
  • birth certificate
  • immigration documents
  • Native Status card

Fees, Location & Hours

The fee for the VPD's Fingerprinting Service is $60.00 non taxable ($10.00 for each additional set). Cash or debit only; credit cards are not accepted.

Requests for Fingerprinting Service must be made in person at the VPD's 3585 Graveley St. location.  Hour of service are from 9:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday (closed statutory holidays).

On weekends, requests for Fingerprinting Service may be made in person at the 2120 Cambie Street location. Hours of service are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Parking

Metered parking is available nearby. Please note that the wait time to submit your application may take up to one hour depending on line-up volumes; plan and pay for your parking accordingly.

Fingerprints for Change of Name

If you wish to change your legal name, you must do so through the B.C. Vital Statistics Agency. Please consult the Vital Statistics website for information on obtaining a change of name package.

As part of the change of name process, you are required to provide your fingerprints to the B.C. Vital Statistics Agency. The VPD can provide this service to you.

When you attend the VPD for fingerprinting, please make sure that you have completed everything in your change of name package, and have included the appropriate documents to be mailed to the Vital Statistics Agency. Please ensure:

  • that you have had the application notarized by a notary public or lawyer
  • that you have filled out the payment details section of the package

The VPD will take your package and mail it to Victoria along with your fingerprints.

Please note that once your package is mailed to Victoria, the VPD has no control over processing time. For inquiries in Victoria regarding the processing of your change of name application, please call (604) 660-2937 or 1-800-663-8328.

Sending Fingerprints to Ottawa

If you have a Conviction / Non-Conviction, you may need to send your fingerprints to Ottawa. Some reasons why you may need to do this are:

Depending on your reason for sending the fingerprints to Ottawa, you may or may not have to pay a processing fee to the RCMP.

Please note that once you have sent the fingerprints to the RCMP, the VPD has no control over the RCMP's processing time.
