Bicycle parking, racks, and corrals

Bike parking example

The City installs convenient and attractive bike parking fixtures throughout Vancouver. Using these fixtures keeps your bike off of streets and out of the way of pedestrians, and provides greater security than if you had locked your bicycle to a tree or electrical pole.

Some installations are funded by the City of Vancouver's Cycling Network program.

Traditional bike racks

Traditional bike racks

Bike racks provide quick places to lock your bicycle. The City installs several around Vancouver. Businesses may install bike racks to support their customers. Free public bicycle racks are also available at downtown EasyPark lots.

These racks are designed to lock up to two bikes at a time and take up much less sidewalk space than traditional bike racks. These bike racks providing accessible and attractive bike parking, eliminates clutter from sidewalks, and reduces hazards to pedestrians.

Bike corrals

Bike corrals

When there is a high-demand for bike parking, bicycle racks can be arranged on the street, instead of on the sidewalk. This provides more parking spaces for cyclists, and also provides more sidewalk space for pedestrians.
