Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services in your community

Fire engine No 5

Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services started in 1886 as the volunteer Vancouver Fire Brigade. The brigade expanded so rapidly "as regards to equipment and efficiency" that in 1911 a committee of London businessmen rated Vancouver's service the third in the world, behind only London and Leipzig.

We continue to be the first to respond to emergency, medical, and rescue service calls. We actively promote awareness of fire safety and prevention in the Metro Vancouver community.

Learn fire safety at the fire hall

Kids of all ages remember the excitement of visiting a local fire hall. During a one hour tour, the fire hall tour leader imprinted fire and life safety skills on the children's minds by telling vivid stories of their experiences.
